APPOINTMENT OF DR. JAMES MCFIE AS A DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF CENTUM

 Centum is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. James McFie as a Director and Deputy Chairman of its Board of Directors. Dr. McFie is currently the Director of the Strathmore School of Accountancy, where he has served as a lecturer since 1978 and trained generations of accountants in Kenya. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sasini Limited and as a non-executive director of The Standard Group Limited. He has previously served as a Director of the Capital Markets Authority (Kenya) and as a Member of the Value Added Tax Tribunal of Kenya, amongst numerous other responsibilities.

 The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Centum, Mr. James Muguiyi, pointed out that Dr. McFie brings a wealth of experience in providing leadership of organizations having served as a director of several businesses, institutions and listed companies. Mr. Muguiyi said “We are very pleased to welcome Dr. McFie onto the Board of Centum and we are confident that with his skills and experience, he will add a lot of value to the business of Centum as well as enhance the mix of skills on our Board”. 

 Dr. McFie holds a PhD from Graduate School of Business, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, an MA (Mathematics) degree from Balliol College, Oxford University, England and a BA (Mathematics) degree from Balliol College, Oxford University, England.

 Dr. McFie replaces Mr. Robert Bunyi as a director, who resigned effective 31 March 2014 to take up his expanding responsibilities. Mr. Bunyi has served as a director of Centum for five (5) years and will continue to serve as a director in a number of Centum’s subsidiaries including serving as Chairman of Centum Asset Managers Limited.

Dr McFie is also the Founder and Patron of the McFie Education Fund
